Stephanie Warchol, an art teacher at Calkins Road Middle School, regularly holds Memory Project workshops in her classroom. We always look forward to seeing the beautiful work her students produce. Stephanie (Mrs. Warchol to her students) first learned about The Memory Project Productions at the 2017 NYSATA conference. A couple of years later, her students were working with a school in Israel and she thought the workshop would be a great way to deepen the connection. She has used the workshop several times since and has sent us the beautiful portraits her class created (left).

“The results were fantastic and the work was impactful based on the student’s reflections. I’m proud of how the [portraits] turned out, but I’m more proud of the kids for tackling a tough subject, and doing it with empathy and maturity.”
